For those that don’t know Sporting, players such as Christiano Ronaldo, Figo, Nani to name a few were developed at Sporting. The team trained with Sporting staff, watched first team train, watched live games, played against their U19 team and saw the sights of Lisbon.

Both teams have accepted the offer and will be going to 2 major college showcases while playing in the US National League for an opportunity to go straight to the USYSA National Championships. The teams will travel to Atlanta, Alabama and Las Vegas in December  and March. The BU17 team won the US National League for the last 2 years and went onto play in the National Championship finishing as National Finalists both years.

Karly Zlatic a forward on the GU17 Premier team will be attending Harvard when she graduates in 2013. She has been recruited to play soccer for them and will be receiving a scholarship to attend Harvard.

The other player is Colin Webb who is part of the BU17 Premier team and has been the GK for the last 5 years. He has turned down many other schools and has verbally committed to Indiana University to play soccer and attend their school when he graduates in 2013.

Both of these players the club has been working with very closely and has helped to make sure this decision was the right one for them. We are very proud to be firming up players in their Junior year of high school and landing players at such prestigious universities.

The team determined to come away with the National Championship and erase the tough loss one year ago in the Finals of the National Championship in OT. The team made a strong committment to get back to the National Championship and it went out and won the State Championship, National League Championship, and nearly won the Regional Championship losing in PK’s in the Semi Finals. This year the team faced off with Concorde Fire (1-0 Win), Cesa Premier( 2-0 Win), and Eastside (1-0 Loss). The team after 3 games qualified for the National Championship and played a rematch against Concorde Fire. The game ended up a 2-1 loss with a tough referee call with 5 min left in the game called a Penalty Kick to determine the game. The game marks the 2nd consecutive year that the team has reached the final game of the USYSA  National Championship.  The team will turn around and regroup with the goal and objective to make it to the finals for 3 consecutive years.

The club recognized his talents and put him on a very progressive plan for him to achieve his goals. After the club took Luis to Brazil to gain professional experience and international travel Luis was recognized and asked to stay over with a few different clubs. Luis came back from Brazil and continued to train with Albion SC until the next opportunity was given. The club was able to open a door in Costa Rica for Luis and after several trials he was picked up by 2nd Division Club Barrrio Mexico. On July 9th Luis debuted in his first professional game against 1st Division Club Saprissa and he helped gain a 2-1 result in that game. Luis is an example to all youth players of what is possible when you are determined and have the work ethic to compliment the skills needed to play at the highest levels. 

Note: Luis Cardona is the player in the middle smiling ear to ear.

Both of these teams got started in the summer with them training on off days from the club. The workouts are specialized training for our players in the area of strength and conditioning as well as speed and explosiveness. The training is led by Femi Ayanbadejo, an 11 year NFL veteran and Super Bowl Champion and Randy Shelton, the Head strength and conditioning coach for the Mens Basketball Team at San Diego State University. Femi not only offers the physical training that we want to expose our players to, but also the mental aspect. He is an athlete that has competed at the highest level and had great success.

The doors now are about to open for all Albion SC players to take advantage of this partnership and train with High Voltage on off days with the club. We look forward to our continued partnership and success training the Albion SC athlete.

The Albion SC team has completed the National Championship run and has finished 2nd in the Nation. * Note: Albion SC had beaten Baltimore the day before 2-0 and defeated them 1-0 in the US National League.

This tournament is linked to the Albion Cup National Showcase and after Albion SC won the Albion Cup 2009 they were set to play in the USA Cup. The USA Cup was the final stage on the "Road to Tottenham" and after defeating a team from Haiti, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Costa Rica the team has earned a sponsored trip to England (Tottenham) by Puma. The team scored 12 goals and gave up 0 to earn the club the first USA Cup Championship.

Albion SC BU15, Ranked # 2 in the Nation by Got Soccer begins the US National League in Wilson, North Carolina in conjunction with the NCAA Division I Final Four. The team has been on a quest to win the the US National Championship and that opportunity begins on December 10th against the Dallas Texans, Lamont Raiders, Baltimore Bays, and CASL Elite. The team is playing 4 games in North Carolina and 3 games in Las Vegas in March. The top two of this league will earn a spot in the National Championship in July.

Oscar Ortega is playing live on Fox Soccer Channel for the next 2 days at 6pm Pacific Time. He is playing with the U17 National Team as they play Brazil and Netherlands in Phoenix, Arizona. They played against Portugal on Friday Night and lost 2-1 with Oscar playing very well in the match. Oscar is doing very well as a Full Time US National Team player and is being considered for the U17 World Cup in 2011.

They won the Albion Cup Showcase in 2008, Surf Cup Semi Finalists 2008, FWRL Champions 2008, 1 loss in the Gold Flight of Coast Soccer League 2008, Lost in PK’s of Surf Thanksgiving 2008, Nomads Showcase playing 2 years up in the U16 Flight lost in PKS in the Semi Finals 2009, Lost in Pk’s in the Semi Finals of Dallas Cup 2009, Finalist of Cerritos Memorial 2009, Lost in the Semi Finals of Region IV 2009 Championship in Pk’s, Albion Cup Champions 2009, Surf Cup Finalists 2009.

The team has just been called up by US Soccer to play in the Prestigious US National League where US Soccer brings the best 8 teams in the country together to play over 2 weekends and offer the top 2 teams a spot in the National Championship as well as incredible exposure.
