STEP 5 of 5
****2008 Team Formation Objective, Policy, and Refunds****
Objectives:
To provide a standard process for the formation of Peninsula Soccer League (PSL) recreational teams that involves transparency, integrity, and fairness during the registration process.
To provide teams within each division that can compete on a level playing field with relative parity, resulting in better soccer contest throughout the season. To enable the registration process to accommodate future growth of the league in an organized, effective, and efficient manner.
Policies:
Players may request to have one “buddy” on the same team. Once a player selects a buddy or a player is selected as a buddy, no further request may be made by either player. In order for a player to select a buddy, the registration forms for each player must be submitted concurrently together in order for the buddy request to be honored. Concurrent submittal may be made by US Mail or in person. “Buddy” request by players who register after the last scheduled registration date will be considered, but cannot be guaranteed. Coaches may not be selected or chosen by players; players may select a “buddy” not a coach.
Coaches (or coach pairs) may request to have up to 4 players on their team, but request must honor the players’ buddy request. This includes any buddy request made by their own child (ran). As such, head coaches who have assistant coaches will have no additional request as their own children and their buddies will comprise the 4 allotted request. Head coaches who do not have an assistant coach may request two players or one pair of buddy players in addition to his or her child’s buddy request. Walk-on coaches who do not have children playing in PSL may request up to 4 players while honoring players’ buddy requests.
Players may request to move up in age division provided that room in the requested age group permits. Players requesting to be considered for move-up will be placed on the bottom of any waiting list in the age group; the player will be moved up only when all players on the list who have appropriate birth dates associated with the age group have been accommodated at which time, move-up request will be considered in order received.
After the above player buddy and move up request, and coaches’ player request have been made no other request will be honored and PSL will assign players to teams, attempting to insure even skill distribution within each age division.
Fine Print:
Request for refunds received or post marked after August 25 will not be granted…no exception. Player request for team placement, practice days, and age group placement that are not accommodated will not be considered as grounds for a refund. Please see the registration policy in the registration packet for additional information. All refunds are reviewed by the refund committee and granted case by case.
